Athlete’s foot
Itchy, cracked or scaly skin on the feet may be a fungal infection. Other skin problems can look similar.
Common symptoms
- Itching, burning, or stinging between the toes
- Dry, scaly, or cracked skin on the feet
- Redness
- Blisters (sometimes)
- Odor (sometimes)
A useful care conversation
Describe where the irritation is, how long it has been present and whether it is spreading. Mention diabetes, circulation concerns and products already used. A clinician can review an optional photo and discuss foot care, suitable treatment or the need for an examination.
When to seek more care
- Get an in-person assessment for spreading redness, warmth, swelling, pus or symptoms extending up the leg.
- Reassessment is needed if symptoms worsen or do not improve.

For an emergency, call 911. Do not wait for a Tap reply or send a photo first.
