A localized itchy or tender bump can follow a bite or sting. A severe allergic reaction requires emergency help.

A useful care conversation
Describe when and where the exposure occurred, what you noticed and how the area has changed. Mention prior reactions and any treatment used. An optional photo can support discussion of skin care and whether an examination is needed.
When to seek more care
- Call 911 for trouble breathing, tongue or throat swelling, or faintness with a widespread reaction.
- Get assessed for spreading redness, pus, fever or worsening pain.
