Blood-pressure follow-up
Stable blood-pressure care depends on a pattern of readings and your overall health. New symptoms or very high readings need a different response.
What we can discuss
- Home blood-pressure readings
- Current medicines and side effects
- Monitoring results
- Continuity with your usual clinician
A useful care conversation
Share home readings with dates, your current medicines, side effects and recent monitoring results. If you use a home cuff, describe the device and how you take readings. A clinician can help interpret the pattern and coordinate follow-up with your usual clinician.
When to seek more care
- Call 911 for very high blood pressure with chest pain, breathlessness, weakness, vision changes or trouble speaking.
- For a reading above 180 systolic or 120 diastolic without symptoms, repeat after at least one minute and contact a healthcare professional promptly if it remains that high. This threshold advice is for adults who are not pregnant.

For an emergency, call 911. Do not wait for a Tap reply or send a photo first.
